It’s been hard for Egyptians to stay connected over the last week as their government has come down hard during the period of unrest. Pretty much every form of communication has been disabled, which also means they can’t tweet. Google has been working with Twitter and SayNow to create a service where Egyptians can call up a number, and dictate their tweet into the phone. They can also hear their tweets to keep updated on the latest news.
This service is called speak2tweet and is currently live. Messages left at the number are instantly tweeted with the hashtag #egypt and no connection is required. The numbers to call are +16504194196, +390662207294 and +97316199855. Listening to the tweets can be done by dialing those numbers or going to this link.
